Fairtrade Projects
La Riojana’s Fairtrade investment has seen the Fairtrade Premium invested in a wide range of projects that have benefitted local communities within La Rioja province, one such community is the village of Tilimuqui.
Back in 2008 the small, isolated village of Tilimuqui, only 10kms from the main La Riojana winery in Chilecito, was in desperate need of help.
Investing in the next generation and the future of our children is vital for the long-term prosperity of the La Riojana co-operative. Which is why we were so pleased to be able to use our Fairtrade funding to help build a new secondary school in the village of Tilimuqui.
La Riojana’s 100% commitment to implementing and following the principles of Fairtrade are perfectly illustrated by the investment we have made towards the health of our community.
Fairtrade has enabled La Riojana to implement a wide variety of community projects that have benefited our workers and our members and their families, as well as the local communities where many of them live.
In May 2024, La Riojana was awarded Co-op’s Treating People Fairly Award, a coveted accolade, judged by an expert panel, which celebrates Co-op suppliers who demonstrate a significant commitment to ethical trade and make a positive impact for workers through their actions.
